I love this! How long does something like this take you? Do you glue stuff down as you go or do you lay everything out & then glue it? what kind of glue do you use? Ok, I’m done with the questions for now. 🙂
questions are cool! 😉
When I try to make up a layout before I start (in RL or in my head) – it just seems like a stumbling block in the process, an obstacle to the flow. So it really is just all made up as I go along. ATM I’m using Modpodge for gluing. It’s ok, but can be little ickky even when it dries and has a slighly plasticky feel and sheen. Sometimes I use acrylic medium, but I mostly use that more for the ‘proper’ stuff than in the books. Much nicer finish.
These strips of colour with the text peeking through – absolutely marvelous. I do so admire your work ethic – you must spend all of your free time on your books of magic and we all enjoy and appreciate your efforts so much – thank you Eph…
right backacha, John! Yes, I do spend absurdly long periods of time surrounded by scraps of torn up colors, doodling in paper and threads, lost in my vivid ideas. But, I am blessed to have this time and these resources, and I’m totally happy in these times. The most wonderful development in these last few months have been the joy of sharing with you guys – bigger and so much more rewarding than I ever could have expected, so, thanks also to you!
these fantastically layered pieces just amaze me.
