day 18 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— I’m painting without a plan here and just enjoying the process, watching (literally with these time lapse videos) to see what emerges. ——————————————— Today I’m returning to one of the first in the series that feels ready for a bit of color now. day 17 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— Persevering with canvas #4 today. This one has become too grey and middle-y, and was asking for more contrast. The black and white helped bring some definition back. But.... ——————————————— But what’s troubled me most with this one is that horizon that comes and goes. I wasn’t sure it was level for a while, then I decided the easel wasn’t level, and finally I settled on it being a combination of the camera angle and my eyes being a bit wonky. day 15 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— I wonder if it’s because I began it later, but this canvas has got something quite different going on . Of course this is only the second layer which will become lost under the next shapes and colors our the next few weeks, but I’m intrigued to see if it keeps its own distinct character. ———————————————- I’m learning much more than a new style of painting is this 100 day project (Which is why I love these challenges so - it’s the sideways lessons that show up along the way) ———————————— One lesson I have to relearn in every layer is that I don’t have to like how it looks. The counter lesson to that is, if I do like how it looks, to have the courage to cover it up and see what happens next. I don’t know if courage is the word - but the belief that it’s all a part of the process, it’s transient, let’s move on now and let it go. It’s all and exercise in letting go again and again.
